KNB has awesome volunteer opportunities for individuals, civic and faith-based organizations, small and large businesses and military groups alike! Volunteers are the key to reducing litter in the City of Norfolk, conserving
our natural resources, and enhancing community pride.
Opportunities are listed below. 

Details: There are many locations around Norfolk that need regular care. The Adopt-A-Spot program is a coordinated effort between Keep Norfolk Beautiful and our volunteers to reduce litter throughout the city. Each year, Adopt-A-Spot volunteers prevent thousands of pounds of litter from entering our waterways. Click on the Adopt-A-Spot link above for more information.

Community Cleanups

Details: Get your group, pick a date, and Keep Norfolk Beautiful will help with the rest. Don't know where to clean? We can help you find a location. Community Cleanups can be scheduled anytime throughout the year and Keep Norfolk Beautiful will provide supplies and training. Follow the link above to register your cleanup!

Spring Clean Out to Clean Up (April 2020)
Details: Join the City of Norfolk for the Spring Clean Out to Clean Up!  This event will be held in April 2020, exact date TBD. Free recycling drop off for the following items are available for Norfolk residents  (* must show proof of residency)

• Plastic bags and plastic film

• Gently used household items and clothing

• General recyclables • Documents for secure shredding

• Household batteries and CFL bulbs *

• Paints and pesticides *

• Electronics *

Clean the Bay Day (June 1st)

Details: Each year, on the first Saturday of June, thousands of Virginians simultaneously descend on the rivers, streams, and beaches of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to remove harmful litter and debris. This is a great opportunity for families, military installations, businesses, clubs, civic or church groups to give back to local waterways.

International Coastal Cleanup (September - October)
Details: Every year, September through October, you can join the international volunteer opportunity to collect, track, and remove litter from Norfolk's beaches and waterways.

Clean Out to Cleanup (November)
Details: Join Keep Norfolk Beautiful and Waste Management November 2020 for the fall clean out event! Bring your household items and old clothes to donate and documents for shredding. Also drop off Household Hazardous Waste and e-cycling.
